Changes

TZ70Over the past couple of years, I’ve been increasingly inclined to take photos with a mobile phone, despite their severe zoom limitations. In December, just days after my last post in here, I suffered a stroke and spend 2 months in hospital. While I’m finally on my feet and in fact relaxing in the Spanish sun, I’m even less inclined to lug around a large camera, despite the benefits.

Accordingly, last week I sold the huge 83x zoom Nikon P900 which had been sitting around for months. Hopefully the new owner, a gentleman from nearby Pozo Alcon, will get years of good service from it. Meanwhile ~I could not entirely divorce myself from owning a “real” camera but this time limited myself to a pocket effort, a brand new, black Panasonic Lumix TZ70 which is on it’s way to me right now.

Compared to the previous version of this camera (the TZ60) the TZ70 has a lower pixel count, going from 18Mpx to 12Mpx but in the process increasing the size of each pixel to improve low-light performance and this was one of the many feature (30x optical zoom) that convinced me to go for this model.

Time will tell, but as the TZ70 should easily fit into my man-bag, I see a bright future for the Lumix.
